The readme in the install folder for homm4 complete says v3.0, but i dont know how to verify that matches the game itself. i have no clue what most of the tweaks mean in the settings.

im using the homm4 complete settings i got with the dxwnd download library. now when i try to load it, the colors are all inverted and the actual game picture appears halfway outside the window its supposed to be in. i switched to win98 compatibility and that fixed that problem. winds of war kept crashing on program start. i have been trying to get it to work and am stumped.įirst, i couldnt get it to load. i read that it had to do with the color rendering or something and i should run it through dxwnd. i just bought homm4 complete from gog (one of my favs) and it kept crashing in battle. Finally, you have to run the game from within DxWnd, do not click on the Steam-supplied shortcut.So, im not completely tech illiterate, but this is out of my depth. Don't forget to save your changes (DxWnd will prompt you to do that if you forget and then attempt to close the program).ġ4.
